. . . for "The Black Donnelley's." Their ratings were even worse then for Studio 60, which is good for the S60 fans because if they were bad enough, maybe 60 will come back. At least to finish out the episodes that had been ordered.

I don't get how they order a bunch of episodes of a show, then cancel it before they've played them all. Do they think they're actually losing money by playing the rest of the shows? It seems silly.
it makes much mores sense to order episodes now, with dvd's, than it did say ten or twenty years ago when they didn't have them.
look at shows like freaks and geeks, one of my all time favorites. it was cancelled in it's first season, but they released a very good dvd box set, and it did very well on dvd. the studio made some decent money on that one.
also, family guy made more on dvd than it ever did on tv.
